How Double Fuzzy's Label Came To Be

Ah yes; ye olde Double Fuzzy

Well, after the unexpected popularity of Fuzzy Baby Ducks India Pale Ale (and a barrage of “You-know-what-you-should-do?” suggestions from tasting room customers), it was obvious a Double IPA version of FBD was needed. For brevity’s sake, the name Double Fuzzy Baby Ducks was shortened to Double Fuzzy and the task of coming up with a tap handle image was thrown down on the table. The adorable, wide-eyed, cutesy-looking ducks of FBD needed to be redrawn for the new, bigger, more, double style of the all Citra-hopped beer. The “bigger” aspect of the drawing appeared as a bigger, weight-lifting, beast of duck; flashing a bigger smile and flexing his much bigger muscles (one in particular being pretty damned obvious). The idea of “more” had to be pushed on this beer; more hops, more taste, more ABV, “more” than the single IPA. And this bigger duck was definitely more. Debuting with some pretty high expectations, Double Fuzzy met them. And in short time it was realized, damn…we gotta put this in cans! It was also realized that the new packaging for the DIPA probably shouldn’t have the “package” that the bigger duck sported the first time around. The modified image still featured the ‘roid duck but he was giving you an approving thumbs up and rocked a dazzling championship belt.
